Automatic Analysis and Recognition of the Auditory Brainstem Response Signals

چکیده
One of the most important challenges in the contemporary audiology is the early detection and diagnosis of hearing impairments in newborn children. In practice such an objective can be achieved only by application of objective methods. The most important is the study of auditory brainstem response signals (ABR). Unfortunately for that method the prospects for automation of the examination are not very promising. It is easy to elaborate an algorithm for automated acquisition and stimulation, it is however much more difficult to construct an algorithm for automated analysis of the results. The objective of the project is the construction of a unified acquisition technique for ABR signals and elaboration of a processing method capable of their automated analysis. Furthermore the automation of the analysis of ABR signals is oriented towards the detection of wave V in the ABR signals. For that task automated classification of ABR signals is proposed, with application of artificial neural networks. In the final stage the combination of the present research topic with remote access to the database it will be possible to create a diagnostic advisory system.

متن کاملA Novel Method for Automated Estimation of Effective Parameters of Complex Auditory Brainstem Response: Adaptive Processing based on Correntropy Concept
Objectives: Automated Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABR) peak detection is a novel technique to facilitate the measurement of neural synchrony along the auditory pathway through the brainstem. Analyzing the location of the peaks in these signals and the time interval between them may be utilized either for analyzing the hearing process or detecting peripheral and central lesions in the human he...
متن کاملEffects of Hyperbilirubinemia on Auditory Brainstem Response of Neonates Treated with Phototherapy
Introduction: One of the most common pathologies in neonates is hyperbilirubinemia, which is a good marker for damage to the central nervous system. The sensitivity of the auditory system to bilirubin has been previously documented, with much discrepancy in its effects on Auditory Brainstem Response results. Thus the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of hyperbilirubinemia on ...
متن کاملUsing Eye Movement Analysis to Study Auditory Effects on Visual Memory Recall
Recent studies in affective computing are focused on sensing human cognitive context using biosignals. In this study, electrooculography (EOG) was utilized to investigate memory recall accessibility via eye movement patterns. 12 subjects were participated in our experiment wherein pictures from four categories were presented. Each category contained nine pictures of which three were presented t...
متن کاملThe Relationship between Severe Hyperbilirubinemia and Abnormal Auditory Brainstem Response in children
Abstract:Background : Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common cause of congenital sensory neuronal hearing loss. These patients are screened by auditory brainstem response (ABR) test at bilirubin levels higher than 1% of gestational weight. Aim: to determine whether hyperbilirubinemia less than 1% of gestational weight could induce hearing loss and abnormal auditory brainstem response (ABR...
متن کاملT-type Ca2+ channels in thalamic sensory gating and affective Disorders
Low threshold Ca2+ currents mediated by T-type channels underlie burst spike activities of relay neurons in the thalamus. We have previously reported that knock-out mice for T-type channels show an enhanced nociceptive response to visceral pain, accompanied by an increase in tonic spikes in the absence of burst spikes in thalamic relay neurons. These results raised a possibility that T-type cha...
